Jesse Jackson Jr. Pulls a Sheila Jackson Lee

Yesterday, Jesse Jackson Jr. took the House floor to throw his two cents into the debt ceiling debate.  It took no time at all for the Illinois representative to inject race into the debate:

I’m quite certain that this comes as a shock to…well…nobody.   This certainly isn’t the first time Jackson has used the race card.  He injected race into the health care debate, saying “You can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man”.  He claimed that the 10th amendment, regarding states rights, advocates slavery.  He also insinuated that Trump was a racist for questioning Obama’s birthplace. “Any discussion of his birthplace is a code word,” said Jackson. “It calls upon ancient racial fears.” He then went on to say “[Trump] is now tapping into code-word fears that go far beyond a rational discourse”.  And now this…

Maybe Jackson has been hanging out with Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee.  Jackson Lee has been to the House floor multiple times with bizarre racial accusations, such as claiming that hurricane names are too Caucasian, declaring “all racial groups should be represented”, or denouncing a Pepsi commercial as racist (during the middle of a federal spending debate).  She has also called the tea party, secret service agents and the balanced budget racist.  A balanced budget is racist????  That’s a new one…

During the 2008 election, Obama promised to bring about a post-racial America, but apparently these members of Congress weren’t listening.  In reality, Obama has done quite the opposite.  We appear to be more divided than ever, thanks to elected officials such as these, along with race baiters such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson Sr.  It’s quite sad.  Why don’t their party leaders call them out on their despicable behavior?  I truly don’t understand it. 

Well, given Obama’s own negative references of race during the election, I guess he set the bar, didn’t he?  And sadly, it’s been set much too low.

Conservative Groups Push to Defeat Boehner Plan

During the past few weeks, conservatives have been waiting for Speaker Boehner to cave on debt ceiling talks, but up to this point, we’ve been pleasantly surprised that he has held his ground, refusing to give in to Obama’s demand for tax hikes.

Unfortunately, things have taken a sour turn.  After the Cut, Cap and Balance bill was passed in the House, then tabled in the Senate, Boehner began working on another plan, which frankly, is a pile of garbage.  The plan calls for an immediate increase of $900 billion to the debt ceiling, along with $900 billion in cuts.  The problem is that these cuts are spread out over 10 years, and most likely, will never materialize.  They rarely ever do in these situations.

Conservative groups are pushing to defeat Boehner’s plan, calling on their members and tea party leaders to contact members of the House and urge them to vote against the bill.  Boehner needs 217 votes to pass it, and Republicans hold 240 seats.  While there are currently not enough votes to pass the bill, Boehner is confident that they will get them.  Now, it appears Boehner and his cronies are strong-arming conservative
Republicans into voting for this new plan.  Tea party advocate,
Representative Allen West, has reportedly flipped, and agreed to support
the bill, which greatly surprises and disappoints me.  Using strong-arm
tactics is how Democrats get bills passed, and it’s not how Republicans
should be acting.  

As with the Cut, Cap and Balance bill, Senate Democrats have vowed to defeat Boehner’s plan, so again, we’re back to square one.  If that’s the case, why didn’t we just stick with Cut, Cap and Balance?  It was a much more conservative plan and required some fiscal responsibility and accountability.

Either way, Republicans have clearly made an effort here, while Obama refuses to put anything on paper, and vows to veto every plan that has been offered up to him.  It’s truly pathetic.  It’s clear that Obama is playing politics, and couldn’t care less about the effects on the American economy or citizens.  He doesn’t like Cut, Cap and Balance, because it caps the debt ceiling and includes a balanced budget amendment.  There’s no way he’s going to agree to that, given his love affair with spending other people’s money.  He doesn’t like the new Boehner plan, because it’s temporary, and he refuses to address this again in the middle of his re-election campaign.

Again, I ask, why are we even working with Obama and the Democrats at this point?  We control the House, we passed a bi-partisan bill, and we don’t have to compromise on this.  The blame sits squarely on Obama’s shoulders, if Democrats refuse to pass a bill and Obama threatens veto at every turn.  Frankly, this game of chicken has made us all quite weary.

Rep. Peter King Conducts Third Hearing on Domestic Radicalization

Kudos to Rep. Peter King for his leadership on the House Committee for Homeland Security, in regards to the series of hearings on domestic radicalization.  He has been unwavering in his efforts to expose the dangers of radical Islam to the United States, and has taken on CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), one of the largest Muslim civil rights organizations in the country, which has been connected with terrorist organizations and supporters of terrorism.

Today, Rep. King held a third hearing, which focused on al-Shabaab al-Mujahideenn of Somalia, Al Qaeda’s major ally in East Africa.  An investigative report was released, which held these key findings:

1. Shabaab has an active recruitment and radicalization network
inside the U.S. targeting Muslim-Americans in Somali communities. It
also ensnared a few non-Somali Muslim-American converts, such as a top
Shabaab commander:

• At least 40 or more Americans have joined Shabaab;
• So many Americans have joined that at least 15 of them have been killed fighting with Shabaab, as well as three Canadians;
• Three Americans who returned to the U.S. were prosecuted, and one awaits extradition from The Netherlands;
• At least 21 or more American Shabaab members overseas remain unaccounted for and pose a direct threat to the U.S. homeland.

2. Shabaab has the intent and capability to conduct attacks or
aid core Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen with
striking U.S. interests and the U.S. homeland.

3. Shabaab has not only openly pledged loyalty and support to Al
Qaeda and AQAP in Yemen, but has cemented alarming operational ties to
both groups.

King also took on the media, specifically the NY Times, in his opening statement, accusing them of “shamelessly attempting to exploit the horrific tragedy in Norway to cause me to refocus these hearings away from Muslim-American radicalization.”   He went on to say, “If
they had even a semblance of intellectual honesty the Times and the
others would know and admit that there is no equivalency in the threat
to our homeland from a deranged gunman and the international terror
apparatus of al-Qaeda and its affiliates, who are recruiting people in
this country and have murdered thousands of Americans in their jihad
attacks.”

King made it clear to the media that he would not back down from these hearings as long as he was the chairman.  Representative King’s strong stance on this issue and refusal to give in to critics from both the media and liberal members of Congress has earned him high accolades from ACT! for America, a grassroots organization that has played a pivotal role in educating the nation to the dangers of radical Islam.

Obama Tells Banks ‘No Default’ While Scaring American Public

As I mentioned in my last post, President Obama is doing nothing more than trying to scare the American public, by telling them that Social Security checks may not go out, if we don’t raise the debt ceiling by August 2nd.  The media is calling 8/2 “doomsday” and Treasury Secretary Geithner is saying default is imminent.  They predicted markets would crash if a deal was not agreed upon before the opening of Asian markets last Monday.  Of course, that didn’t happen.  All of this is being done to scare the American people into demanding Republicans agree to tax hikes and raising the debt ceiling.

Now we find out that, in fact, Obama has signaled to banks that we will not default.  Shocking….

over the weekend about the possibility of a debt default if the debt
ceiling isn’t raised, they privately have been telling top executives at
major U.S. banks that such an event won’t happen, FOX Business has
learned.

In a series of phone calls, administration officials have told
bankers that the administration will not allow a default to happen even
if the debt cap isn’t raised by the August 2 date Treasury Secretary Tim
Geithner says the government will run out of money to pay all its
bills, including obligations to bond holders. Geithner made the rounds
on the Sunday talk shows saying a default is imminent if the debt
ceiling isn’t raised, and President Obama issued a similar warning
during a Friday press conference after budget negotiations with House

Isn’t this what we’ve been saying for months?  It’s the typical scare tactic routine by Obama and Democrats.  They say they’re looking out for the American people, but all they are doing is playing politics.  They claim the Republicans want to destroy the economy and the environment, and that we’re endangering the future of this country.  How absurd.  In fact, this is exactly what Democrats are doing.  Obama is willing to risk collapse of our markets, through FEAR, not default….and all of this for what?  Political gain and re-election.  That is an abomination.

We need to vote this man out in 2012, or our future WILL be lost.

Debt Ceiling Presidential Address…More of the Same

For those of you who missed Obama’s presidential address on the debt ceiling last night, I’ll give you a brief summary….

Wah, wah, wah…..Bush’s fault…..
wah, wah, wah, wah….shared sacrifice….
wah,wah,wah…Republicans only want to protect the rich…
wah, wah, wah, wah…I have a balanced approach…

I think that about sums it up.  But here’s the speech in it’s entirety, if you think you have the stomach for it…

So, why did Obama feel the need to have this address last night?  After all, according to him, 80% of Americans already support his plan and want higher taxes on the “wealthiest Americans”.  If he has the support of 80% of Americans, why does he still feel the need to push this plan?

As you will recall, when the health care bill was being debated, Obama said the overwhelming majority of Americans wanted universal health care.  However, even after the bill became law, Obama will still out campaigning for it.  Why?  If it’s already passed, and Americans wanted this, why was he still trying to convince everyone how great it is?

The fact is, a majority of Americans did NOT want that health care bill, and the majority of Americans do NOT want higher taxes.  Obama knows this, and that’s why he’s trying so hard to push something that he claims Americans already want. 

Obama also continued to throw out the typical scare tactics, claiming that we may not be able to pay our bills, including the social security payments.  Let’s focus on that for a minute.  The only way people will not get their social security payments is if Obama decides not to send them out.  We have more than enough revenues to pay them, along with our interest payments, Medicare, Medicaid, veteran payments, active military payments, and then some.  Read more.  This is pure theater on Obama’s part.  He knows all of this.  If he doesn’t, we’re in even deeper trouble then we think!

Obama claims that Republicans are not working with Democrats for a solution to this problem, but the fact is, Speaker Boehner already has a bill, Cut, Cap and Balance, which has passed in the House.  It caps the debt ceiling and calls for a balanced budget amendment.  However, the Senate tabled the bill, and Obama said, point blank, that he would veto it. 

Boehner is also pushing for a short-term solution, which will require Congress and the president to go through this whole fight again, in just a few short months.  Obama is worried about re-election, and he knows another debt ceiling fight, just months before the elections, could mean a victory for Republicans.  It sounds like Obama is running out of options, and he’s starting to feel the strain.  Desperation is starting to show….

After Obama’s address, Boehner also gave a speech, outlining the House bill, pointing out that it was a bi-partisan effort.  He went on to claim that Obama wants a blank check, and that the Senate bill is “filled with phony accounting and Washington gimmicks.” 

Boehner summed up Obama’s philosophy in this manner – “The President has often said we need a ‘balanced’ approach—which in Washington means: we spend more, you pay more.”  Well said.  That’s exactly what Obama is looking for….a clean bill that would raise the debt ceiling with no stipulations, or a bill that is full of tax increases. 

Well, Mr. President….keep dreaming.

‘Super Congress’ Proposed to Solve Debt Crisis

The following story should be of great concern to any freedom-loving American.  This is just another example of our politicians ignoring the Constitution and the political process, in order to give themselves more power.  Sunday, a Newsmax article reported:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his Republican counterpart,
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly are working on an idea to
create a new bipartisan committee to break the debt-ceiling deadlock.

Such a committee, which some label a “Super Congress” and staffers on
Capitol Hill are calling a “super committee,” reportedly would have
special powers not present in the Constitution now, according to the Daily Mail in London.

The body, which some bloggers are blasting as patently illegal, would be
a 12-member bipartisan panel with six members from each party. It would
settle on an agreement to fast-track through the Senate and the House,
where members would not be allowed to debate the plan, just vote for or
against it.

“With the weight of both leaderships behind it, a product originated by
the Super Congress would have a strong chance of moving through the
little Congress and quickly becoming law,” according to the Daily Mail.
“A Super Congress would be less accountable than the system that exists
today, and would find it easier to strip the public of popular benefits.

House Speaker John Boehner reportedly supports the idea, although he has not pressed the concept publicly.

If this “Super Congress” is formed, we as a nation, are in serious trouble.  Our freedoms are being taken away one by one, and our Constitution is being completely left out of our legislative process.  The president and Congress has been aware of the debt ceiling issues for a long time.  They all knew this was coming, but failed to act.  Now, at the eleventh hour, they cannot come to an agreement, so their plan is to make up their own rules, ignore our Constitution, and create a super committee to override the rest of Congress. 

It’s time for Americans to wake up and see what’s really going on here.  We need to stand up for our freedoms and our Constitutional rights.  We need to take our country back.  Don’t just stand on the sidelines.  If you don’t speak up, they’ve already won.  Contact your representatives.  Get out the vote.  Spread the word.
