How dare a president wish for Americans to be able to achieve “a small measure the American Dream.” He trips all over himself and it’s little wonder. He doesn’t believe in self-reliance and captialeism so when he tries to talk about it, the big government socialist language just creeps in.

I guess you don’t really know anything about me, with all due respect. I’ve been on hard times in the past, and not had the money to pay my bills. But I didn’t just give up and expect someone else to take care of me. I worked harder and made my situation better. No doubt, the insurance companies do not do right by many people, but that’s a problem that can be dealt with in other ways, with the free market. If insurance could be purchased across state lines, it would create more competition, and rates would go down. It’s never a good solution for the federal government to step in. First of all, they can’t do anything efficiently. Secondly, it creates dependency. Thirdly, as the government gets bigger, it becomes more corrupt. Need I go on?? Bigger government is NEVER the answer.

Thanks! The sad thing about this is that people will actually buy into it. I see this every day at my job. People are happy with their handouts, even thought they barely get by. As long as they don’t have to work for it, it’s all good. Meantime, the folks who really work hard and want more are somehow the bad guys. Hard work and success is now looked down on and punished, thanks to this president.

Nice post. Obama embraces the ideology of “everything for everyone.” In order for this fantasy to have some concept of reality to the masses, it is not necessary for anyone to want to achieve anything other than mediocracy. Nor is it possible for that matter. The whole concept of Western European Socialism is founded on the theory that everyone should succeed. It differs from the American philosophy that everyone has a “chance” to succeed. This concept is lost on the left.

Obama did not make the economy worse; the GOP in Congress deliberately made the recovery more difficult to win back the White House. Guess you never had a major medical experience. Well, I did and I am still paying the price 8 years later. i had excellent coverage and I worked in a hospital. Still the healthcare insurers tried to weasel out of as much as they could. Now I’m on Medicare and I’m much happier.
