Obama won re-election.  The Democrats successfully put their man in office for another 4 years.  So, why are they still so angry???

There are currently 35+ petitions that have been filed with the White House, with various states petitioning to secede from the U.S. of America.  One of my co-workers mentioned it to me earlier this afternoon, and another co-worker (who voted for Obama) responded with “good riddance!”.  Wow.  Angry much?  Your man won.  Why are you so freakin’ mad all the time?

Are you already having buyer’s remorse?  Within 48 hours of the election, more than 40 corporations announced layoffs.  Small business owners are closing their doors.  Companies are cutting employees, or reducing their employees from full time to part time, to avoid providing health insurance.  The stock market is still down around 500 points since Tuesday.  Ohio food stamp recipients (869,000 households) just found out that their benefits are being cut, to the tune of $520 million a year.   We found out the administration kept information about the massive increase in food stamp recipients during July-August under wraps.  They also kept the news of General Patraeus under wraps until after the election, along with the debacle in Benghazi.  The list goes on.  There has been nothing but negative news regarding our economy and foreign policy issues.

But it’s not like you didn’t know this was coming.  You were warned.  We screamed it from the rooftops.  Employers even told their employees they would be laying people off if Obama was re-elected.  Did you really think it would get better?  Did you really think it was going to magically change when he was re-elected?

All I can say is don’t complain to me about your healthcare costs rising and your friends/family losing their jobs.  You asked for it, and you got it.…now deal with the consequences.

As I’ve browsed the internet these past two days, I’m struck by the number of people who are so discouraged by Obama’s re-election, that they are ready to just give up.  Some have vowed to turn off the news and become an uninformed voter, because it would just be easier.  Some talked about quitting their jobs and going on food stamps and welfare.  It’s sad to think that any American sees that as a better option.

While I’m sure many of those discouraged voters are just venting and have no real intention of giving up, it’s clear that many feel their efforts just didn’t matter this time around.  But we cannot give up.  That’s what they want us to do.  We cannot lose focus on the real problem.  It’s about more than just Barack Obama.  It’s about our liberty.  It’s about the Constitution.  It’s about the country we’re leaving for our children and grandchildren.  We’re the world’s last best hope.  We’re that shining city on the hill.  This is America, the greatest country in the world.  Too many men have fought and died to keep this country free, and we can NOT let them die in vain.

Why did we lose?  Did the Democrats have better ideas?  Did they have a better message?  Do they have stronger values?  No.  They campaigned on fear, not ideas.  Their message was full of lies and misinformation.  They made false claims about Mitt Romney’s character.  They painted him to be a liar, tax cheat, and an uncaring, disconnected rich man who was only out to help the wealthiest Americans.  They scared women into believing that Republicans want to take away health care and contraceptives.  They scared seniors into thinking Republicans were going to take away their social security and Medicare benefits.  They scared young people into thinking Republicans would take away their opportunities for a good education.  They used the same sorry scare tactics they use EVERY election.  We know those things couldn’t be further from the truth, but the uninformed voters believe it.  The news has been so filtered, that unless you’re getting your news from Fox, conservative talk radio, or conservative blogs, you’re just not getting the truth.  The main stream media no longer breaks the news…..it shapes the news.  They decide what to report, based on which stories will either help the Democrat or hurt the Republican.  Period.  And Obama just had a better ground game.  Despite the decline in enthusiasm for Obama, his campaign got people to the polls.

So what now?  We press on.  We look toward 2014, and we find a way to articulate our message in a clearer way.  We don’t change our core principles….we will never win by changing who we are.  We find a way to make people understand who we are, and why our ideas are the right ideas.  We find a way to make them understand how this country can become more prosperous through lower taxes and less government, and that smaller government is a more effective government.

Democrats pander by dividing the country into voting blocs.  We are all Americans.  We should not be put into boxes according to color, gender or class.  That’s not the American way of doing things.  We shouldn’t appeal to women and minorities by promising them things we can’t deliver or by changing our principles.  We should appeal to them by setting the example.  The Republican party has not been able to shake the stereotype of being the party of rich white men.  It couldn’t be further from the truth, yet it’s how we are perceived.  We have a very diverse group of strong conservative leaders from all backgrounds.  We have Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Marsha Blackburn, Nikki Haley, Mia Love, Allen West, Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal, just to name a few.  But Democrats have effectively kept us in a box, and we often just assume that we cannot get the black or Hispanic votes.  We can.  We just aren’t trying hard enough.

2014 is our next goal.  We have 20 Democrat senators to unseat, and 13 Republican seats to defend.   We need to retain the House.  We have gubernatorial seats to replace and defend.  This is no time for discouragement and defeat….we still have work to do.

Americans have spent the last four years watching our country being taken from us.  We have a president who thinks he is above the law.  He violates the Constitution, bypasses Congress, and ignores the American people.  He’s running up our national debt at unprecedented rates.  He picks winners and losers.  He takes from the successful, hard working Americans and gives to those who sit with their hand out.  He gives our hard earned tax dollars to countries who work against us.  He hosts leaders of radical Muslim regimes in the White House, while ignoring the leaders of our closet ally countries.  He disrespects our military.  He allowed four Americans to die in Libya, without doing anything to save them, then lied to the American public, and targeted someone who had nothing to do with the attacks.

This president has the most pro-abortion record in Congress, even voting against measures to save the life of an innocent baby born in a botched abortion.  He has worked against religious freedom of Christians while promoting the religion of Islam.  He focuses on things like free contraception for women, while ignoring the fact that we have 23 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed.  He’s doing nothing to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, trotting off to Las Vegas on campaign stops while people on the East Coast have no homes, no heat, no gas and no food or water.

This is a pivotal election.  We cannot afford to be complacent.  That’s how we got into this mess in the first place.  We have leaders in Congress who need to be removed.  We have a president who needs his walking papers.  We need to get back to the principles this country was founded upon.  We need to take our country back.  This is the time.  If not us, who?  If not now, when?

Get out and vote.  Your country depends on it.

This one got to me….very powerful.

via The Ulsterman Report

A remarkable  story from a longtime D.C. political operative of just how personally moved Mitt Romney was following a campaign stop in Red Rocks Colorado where over 10,000 enthusiastic supporters greeted the man they hope will be the next President of the United States.

Got this feedback earlier today and thought you’d like to hear it.  You know, I’ve gone from just trying to defeat Obama to really trying to help Governor Romney be this country’s next president.  I’m really starting to believe there might be something very special about this man.  This took place out in Colorado.  Just a couple days ago.  Probably my favorite campaign trail story that’s come back my way so far this election.  Wish I had been there.  I’m going to try and get a little poetic on you here.  Hope I pull it off OK and do this story justice.  Feel free to help me out a bit in the telling.  I would be embarrassed for people to know just how bad my spelling really is.  And sadly, that’s not a joke.  -INSIDER

As the governor was en route to the amphitheatre they were told the crowd was showing “strong numbers”.  What greeted him was a lot more than just “strong numbers” though.  It was a massive wave of thousands and thousands of supporters.  Before going on the governor apparently peeked out a few times and was shaking his head in disbelief at just how many people were there to see him.  He was told by organizers up to a thousand more were turned away because there simply wasn’t any room left.  People said you could feel the size of the crowd under your feet backstage.  Somebody had passed out a ton of “thundersticks” and the people were banging them together and making this amazing rumbling noise.  There were some real veteran campaigners backstage and I’m told they were all blown away by this crowd in Colorado.  It really was like some big time rock show.  Just a huge response for the governor.

So Governor Romney goes onstage and gives his speech.  The crowd just totally embraces him.  From beginning to end.  Every word.  They are fired up. Loud.  Positive.  Cheering.  Just an amazing moment for the campaign.  Everybody backstage were all smiles and peeking out at all those people and shaking their heads.  This is the kind of moment in a campaign you never forget.  Ever.   Nobody who hasn’t experienced it can really understand this feeling.  You’re looking at a candidate being transformed right in front of your eyes into the next Leader of the Free World.  They go from being human into something just a bit more. It’s all those people.  That energy.  It kind of fills the candidate up and makes them bigger than life.  And you are watching it happen in real time.  Right then.

The governor returns backstage and he is smiling and shaking hands, taking congratulations from everybody around him.  He’s saying how great it was.  Somebody yells out he’s going to win Colorado and the governor laughs and says he thinks so too.  And then something very interesting happens.  He moves away from the group of people just a bit.  Maybe ten or fifteen feet or so.  Just enough to have a little space to himself.  And enough people notice that the area gets a lot more quiet, and they are trying to watch the governor without looking like they are watching the governor.  They can all kind of tell something is happening right then.  It was described as something very peaceful and powerful that came over that backstage area for a moment.  And the governor, he lowers his head and his eyes shut tight and you could see him take a slow deep breath and then he lets it out and says quietly, but just loud enough for some to hear, “Lord, if this is your will, please help to make me worthy.  Please give me the strength Lord.”  And then his eyes open up, and he’s back to smiling and laughing and shaking hands and being the candidate once again.

I’m 100% convinced Mitt Romney was shaken to his soul right then and there.  I think at that moment it was sinking in he might really be the next American president, and it humbled him right to his core, in every nerve of his body.  And as he was saying that little prayer, you could hear the sound of thunder from all those thundersticks outside. Like this huge low rumble that just surrounded all of them at once.  A quiet little prayer, and the sound of thunder.

The sound of God.

I regularly have conversations with Democrats who cannot successfully defend the president’s record.  In fact, they don’t even try.  It’s either an attack on Romney, usually without basis in fact, or it’s some lame excuse about Obama’s social record, if they even make that much of an effort.

I have these conversations quite frequently with one particular co-worker.  We had a very intense debate recently, which I later realized epitomizes the logic of the typical Obama voter.  I asked why he supported Obama over Romney.  His first effort was to trash Romney, for everything from not paying enough taxes to killing jobs while at Bain Capital.  I successfully debunked every charge he made against Romney, and once he ran out of ideas, he said that none of it mattered anyway, because he supported Obama’s social policies, and that was it.

So, I’m curious….is that really enough of a reason to support this president?

We’ve talked about Obama’s group of friends and associates until we’re blue in the face.  Controversial figures like Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis and Reverend Wright have come up for the past 4 years, but it doesn’t seem to have any affect.  We’ve talked about Obama’s relationships with, or defense of, radical groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and the New Black Panther Party, yet supporters just don’t seem to care.   I was always taught that the people we hang around with says a lot about the person we are.  Does that not apply anymore?  Does character even matter?

We’ve pointed out Obama’s socialist/Marxist/communist philosophies.  We’ve pointed out his messages of class warfare, division and wealth distribution.  We’ve pointed out his extreme views on abortion.  It’s not enough.

What about the economy?  Growth has been virtually stagnant through Obama’s entire term.  Growth was slower this month than last month, and slower last month than the previous month.  Unemployment is still around 8%, with real unemployment closer to 15%.  Millions of Americans are underemployed.  Houses are still under water.  Gas and food prices are still up.   We’ve reached $16 trillion of debt.  Businesses are afraid to expand.  The future is uncertain.  Yet, millions of Americans still support this president.

What about health care?  Insurance rates are going up – in my case, by 50%, in other cases, by 75% or 100%.  Some companies are dropping coverage altogether.  The Affordable Care Act is anything but affordable.  Doctors are getting out of medicine.  Reimbursement rates are dropping.  The health care law is costing us over $1 trillion at this point, a number which grows consistently.  Yet, Obama’s support in this election is still around 45-47%.

So here is my question to Obama voters:  What will make you sit up and take notice?

It is $20 trillion in debt?  $30 trillion in debt?  What’s the number?

Is it 18% unemployment?  25%?

Is it $5/gallon for gas?  $10?

Is it 1 in 5 Americans on food stamps?  One in 3?  Food stamps for all?

Is it a completely decimated U.S. military?

Or are you completely satisfied with this president, economy and national defense be damned, just because he supports gay marriage and free birth control?

I’m clearly a glutton for punishment.  I subjected myself to two evenings of MSNBC’s “analysis” of the Republican National Convention speeches.  I admit, I had a morbid curiosity as to how they would spin these speeches, and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint.  While I know I should no longer be surprised at the tactics of the left and so-called mainstream media, I was absolutely appalled at their coverage.

The first thing that struck me was the pettiness and nasty tones of their comments.  I get it – they’re hard core liberals who think everything that comes out a Republican’s mouth is either racist or hateful to women.  It’s clear that their only goal is to re-elect Obama, and that they’ll do or say anything necessary to make that happen.  I know who I’m dealing with here.  But the spiteful, vicious, petty way in which they expressed their views was nothing short of nauseating.   It was basically a junior-high level “you suck” marathon.   They trashed nearly every speech as totally lacking in substance, and several of the pundits referred to the atmosphere as mean, vicious and hateful….oh yes, and racist.  I mean, what would an MSNBC analysis be without accusations of racism?

Here are a few remarks that stuck out in my mind…

Rachel Maddow, who thinks she’s the smartest person in any room, called Chris Christie’s keynote speech “…one of the most remarkable acts of political selfishness I have ever seen on a stage this big.”

Lawrence O’Donnell accused Mitch McConnell of having racist overtones in his speech, when McConnell said “For four years, Barack Obama has been running from the nation’s problems. He hasn’t been working to earn reelection. He’s been working to earn a spot on the PGA tour.”  O’Donnell claimed it was a negative racial reference to Tiger Woods.  What the…?  How do you get racism from that comment??  Guess what, O’Connell?  When you see racism in every comment, YOU are the racist!

Al Sharpton, who Rachel referred to as the “professor of oratory” — no, I’m serious…she actually said that — accused Republicans of being hypocrites because Ann Romney spoke of Mitt as a loving man, while Christie pointed out that Republicans need to worry about being respected, not loved.  “Which is it…love or respect?”…was Sharpton’s response.  Say what?  It’s not like Ann said Mitt will make you love him.  She was just speaking to the man’s character.  That makes them hypocrites?  I’m confused.  Predictably, Sharpton also went into several off-the-wall civil rights tirades….his typical M.O….but I’ll spare you the details.

Melissa Harris-Perry remarked that VA Governor Bob McDonnell believes in government “small enough to put on a transvaginal probe”, making a dig at a bill that would require an ultrasound before an abortion.  How utterly inappropriate.

“Thrill up my leg” Chris Matthews referred to Paul Ryan’s speech (which was excellent, by the way) as “very constricted, very negative and very nasty”, and implied that Ryan was speaking to racists.  Angry much, Chris?  Matthews said “It’s clear that Paul Ryan was talking to people who think about rights as something…produced by Thomas Jefferson, ignoring the people for whom the rights only came in the 1960s.”  Are you kidding me?

And while we’re on the subject, what is with Chris Matthews’ obsession with race and the “birther movement”?  The man won’t stop talking about it.   Earlier this week, he tore into RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, accusing Republicans of using the race card in their claim that the president eliminated the welfare work requirement, and in Romney’s birth certificate joke (it was a joke, people….lighten up!).  Matthews also accused Newt Gingrich of being a racist for calling Obama the “food stamp president” and said Reagan was being racist when he used the term “welfare queen”, which Matthew’s claims obviously referred to black women.  Only in your world, Chris…

Last night, Matthews even stooped so low as to grill Condoleeza Rice on “birtherism”, asking her whether her speech was a “rejoinder to all the birtherism and narrowness that she’s heard in her party.”  Unbelievable.  Of course, Condi took it all in stride, stating that there are extreme views on both sides of the aisle, and that the great majority sees us as one America.  Good answer, Condi.

The worst segment was when the entire MSNBC team went after Scott Walker on Paul Ryan’s comments about the Janesville GM plant that closed after the president promised it would stay open, claiming that the plant closed before Obama became president.  When Walker explained that there were prior layoffs, but that the plant did indeed close after Obama took office, that wasn’t good enough for the MSNBC staff.  Maddow pressed the issue and asked again.  Al Sharpton jumped into the fray and continued to talk over Walker, as he again tried to answer the question.  Ed Schultz continued pummeling Walker on the issue, but Walker stood firm on his answers regarding the plant and the auto bailouts.  It was the most disrespectful bullying I’ve ever seen from a news organization.  If they challenged Obama at even a fraction of that level, he would have never made it through the 1st campaign.  Astounding.

Long story short, this is the media bias that Republicans/conservatives are dealing with on a daily basis.  It’s not just on the part of MSNBC, although they clearly provide the most egregious example of it.  We see it from nearly every news channel.  For people like me, who live and breath politics, we know better.  I personally have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that people actually buy into their manipulation of the truth.  But for many Americans who are not involved in the political process, this is what they are often exposed to, and it’s all they hear, so they believe it.  This is why conservative talk radio and conservative bloggers are so vital to this election.  We have the truth on our side, and we must continue to get our message out.

As one example, I spoke to a co-worker recently, who votes Republican, but is completely ignorant of the political process or the issues at hand.  I made a comment to her about the liberal argument that the rich should pay more taxes.  Her response:  “they should pay more taxes.”  When I pressed her on the subject, asking how much they should pay, she had no answer, and didn’t even know how much they currently pay.  I showed her the chart of how much the top 1% pays vs the lower 50%, and she was stunned.  She had absolutely no idea, and  immediately backed away from her statement.  We just assume that people know this information, as we’ve heard it hundreds of times. Yet there are still so many who do not.  That’s where we come in.  I have those days of frustration, when it seems the situation is completely hopeless, but I know giving up is not an option.  This is a turning point for our country, and there is no time for doubting.  The current administration has got to go, so we can begin the process of restoring our country back to its founding principles.

Obama's America 2016

Love Him, Hate Him, You Don't Know Him

2016 Obama’s America takes audiences on a gripping visual journey into the heart of the world’s most powerful office to reveal the struggle of whether one man’s past will redefine America over the next four years. The film examines the question, “If Obama wins a second term, where will we be in 2016?”

Across the globe and in America, people in 2008 hungered for a leader who would unite and lift us from economic turmoil and war. True to America’s ideals, they invested their hope in a new kind of president, Barack Obama. What they didn’t know is that Obama is a man with a past, and in powerful ways that past defines him–who he is, how he thinks, and where he intends to take America and the world.

Immersed in exotic locales across four continents, best selling author Dinesh D’Souza races against time to find answers to Obama’s past and reveal where America will be in 2016. During this journey he discovers how Hope and Change became radically misunderstood, and identifies new flashpoints for hot wars in mankind’s greatest struggle. The journey moves quickly over the arc of the old colonial empires, into America’s empire of liberty, and we see the unfolding realignment of nations and the shape of the global future.

Emotionally engaging, 2016 Obama’s America will make you confounded and cheer as you discover the mysteries and answers to your greatest aspirations and worst fears.

Love him or hate him, you don’t know him.
