During the 2008 elections, Obama claimed that he would bring hope and change to America. Well, it’s painfully clear that his interpretation of hope and change was something much different than what Americans expected, and he has only succeeded in pushing our country to the brink of financial and social disaster.
America’s Only Hope is Change
July 4, 2011 by righthook38
Our pastor brought us a message yesterday about America’s only hope being that of change, real change, from within. And he’s right. We certainly cannot rely on politicians to change the path this country is heading down. We must do more. We need to stop worrying about political correctness, and stop being tolerant of things that are in direct conflict of Biblical and conservative principles. Just like the grassroots tea party movement, we must start with ourselves and our friends and families. There are certainly some positive things we can do.
1. Pray for our country and our leaders. We need to pray for wisdom for our president, Congress and other state and local representatives. They are making the decisions and writing the laws for our country, and they’ve made many poor decisions as of late. The federal government is fiscally irresponsible, refusing to pass a budget and increasing our nation’s debt at an alarming, and clearly unsustainable rate. Many state governments are also fiscally irresponsible and are pushing liberal agendas, such as New York’s recent decision to legalize gay marriage. Government is growing larger, and trying to interfere more and more in our daily lives, taking away our freedoms one by one.
2. Be vigilant. Pay attention to what is going on within our federal, state and local government, as well as in our schools. So many people dislike politics, so they bury their head in the sand. In this political and social climate, ignorance is not bliss. Your ignorance is what politicians are counting on, and is how they’ve passed some of the legislation we have in place right now. Some of our schools and colleges are pushing Islamic agendas while discriminating against those of Christian and Jewish faiths. Stay informed. Act! for America is a grassroots movement, informing the nation of the dangers of radical Islam. They are also a good source for state and local legislation, and will send email updates to inform you of important votes coming up in your state. You can sign up at Act! for America.
3. Contact your representatives. When important legislation is coming up for a vote, make your voice heard. There are several websites that provide information on how to contact your representatives. Call or email your legislators. They are there to represent YOU. Hold them accountable and let them know that if they don’t do what you’ve elected them to do, you will VOTE THEM OUT.
4. Don’t be discouraged. At times, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed by the desperate state of our nation. With rising debt, high unemployment, rising food and gas prices, a stagnant economy and a failing housing market, we can often feel discouraged and want to give up. But we know God is in control, and there is always something we can do. We must make our voices heard and not be afraid to stand up to those who want to negatively change this great country. We must keep the faith, and do our part. Conservative voices are being heard, thanks in large part to the tea party movement and other conservative groups, and we can see this by the increasing desperation from the left. The more we see personal attacks and smears against our conservative politicians, the clearer our sign that we are making a difference.
Have a very happy July 4th! God Bless America!
