According to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Obama became very agitated yesterday during debt talks, and abruptly left the meeting. This seems to be a pattern for him. It’s been clear from the beginning that Obama had no desire to be involved in these talks. He sent Biden to deal with it, and was clearly annoyed when he had to step in. At that point, he held a press conference and scolded Congress for taking a break, when they should be in Washington, hammering out this deal.
A few meetings in, Obama continued to become more irritated. Of course, who could blame him? He did have to cancel his Montana trip, after all. Stupid Republicans…..this is all their fault. So, Obama, once again, tried to bring leaders to their senses and make a deal. He held another press conference, and told Congressional leaders it was time to “eat our peas” and get it done. Is he dissin’ peas?? My daughter loves peas. But I digress…..
Yesterday, Obama lost his cool when Cantor suggested a series of votes on the debt ceiling, which Obama has clearly been against. Cantor also suggested that with the parties being so far apart, they may not be able to come to an agreement before the deadline. According to Cantor, Obama stated “Ronald Reagan wouldn’t sit here. You either have to compromise on the
dollar figure or the grand bargain.” He continued…”Don’t call my bluff. I’m
going to the American people on this.” Is it just me, or did that sound like a 5 year old threatening to tell Mom? And what’s up with the Ronald Reagan comment? Why is it when liberals want to defend their actions or appeal to a Republican, they throw Reagan into the mix….like Obama is anything like Reagan. Do they actually think that works?
It seems every time Obama doesn’t get his way, he stomps off like a little kid. He’s always been portrayed as this “above the fray” type of president, who is always cool, calm and collected. He is, as long as he’s getting what he wants. But as soon as he has to actually do some hard work, and things don’t just fall into place for him, the real Obama comes out. Remember the slogan for Gillette…”never let them see you sweat”? Well, it looks like Obama is starting to do just that.
