(h/t Daily Caller) – Five Democratic women are calling on Florida Republican Rep. Allen West to apologize for comments he made in an email to Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
In the email, West called the congresswoman “the most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the U.S. House of Representatives.”
In a letter to the GOP leadership and West, Democratic Reps. Gwen
Moore (WI), Carolyn Maloney (NY), Lois Capps (CA), Donna Edwards (MD)
and Jackie Speier (CA) called not only on West to repent, but also on
the GOP to disavow his words.
“By any objective viewing of her floor
speech, she was well within the rules of decorum for our chamber,” they
wrote. “Yet, Mr. West’s response was completely out of order and an
offensive personal attack with a clearly sexist tone. We call on you to
disavow this response in the strongest of terms.” See More
Well, isn’t that sweet? It’s so nice when women stick together and defend each other, just like they did with Sarah Palin….oh wait, no they didn’t. In fact, these women were nowhere to be found all the times Sarah Palin was personally attacked, were they? Maybe that’s because many of those smears against Palin were from their very own gal pal, Wasserman Schultz. But now that she is being attacked, it’s a different story. My, how the tables have turned. [Off the subject, check out this crazy statement by Rep. Gwen Moore (one of Wasserman Schultz’s defenders)…not exactly someone I would want defending me…]
The congresswomen defending Wasserman Schultz went on to say “We also call on Mr. West to immediately apologize to Ms. Wasserman Schultz and vow to keep debate about policy, not personality.” Now that’s rich. Keep the debate about policy, not personality….like they do with Sarah Palin, right? Oh wait….
This whole brouhaha is a joke. In my humble opinion, Representative West was completely justified in sending that email. Wasserman Schultz has been verbally attacking West for some time, accusing him of being an right-wing extremist and “wearing his extreme disrespect as a badge of honor”. She also accused him of objectifying and denigrating women, along with a few other, let’s just say, more “colorful” choices of words. Funny how liberal women demand to be treated as equals, until they come under fire, then they play victim and throw out the “sexist” card. Give me a break.
Congressman West continues to defend his statements.
Republicans have stood by and allowed liberals to verbally attack and abuse them for years, and it’s about time they starting fighting back. I’m all for it. I commend Congressman West, and I hope he continues to stand behind his comments.
