One almost has to laugh at the irony here. Newt Gingrich was recently ravaged in the media, for calling Obama the “food stamp president”, citing the skyrocketing increase of food stamp recipients to 46 million, up two-thirds in only three years. The White House and liberals across the country took great offense to this label, accusing Gingrich of race baiting (although statistics show that there are more white people on food stamps than blacks, but who cares about facts, right?).
Meanwhile, Obama is offering $75,000 grants to groups who can find ways to increase program participation, as the administration feels there are not enough people, specifically seniors and Hispanics, in the SNAP program. This is a joke, right? No, America, it’s real…check it out.
h/t – Big Government
Over the last three years, the number of Americans on food stamps has skyrocketed by two-thirds and stands at a record-high 46 million citizens, or one out of every seven people in the United States. Despite the historic rise in food stamp use, however, the Obama Administration believes not enough people are receiving food stamps who should be and is offering $75,000 grants to groups who devise “effective strategies” to “increase program participation” among those who have yet to sign up.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website singles out Hispanics and elderly Americans as groups who often fail to enroll in the food stamp program (officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP) and says that one of the contributing factors that must be overcome to get more people to sign up for SNAP benefits is individual “pride”:
There are many reasons why eligible people, including seniors and Hispanics, do not participate in the SNAP. These include unawareness of eligibility, confusion about program rules and requirements, a complex application process, and a lack of transportation and pride.

The ole Liberal Double Standard never ceases to amaze me. Great post my friend 😉
You know it! This stuff just makes my blood boil, and the thought that anyone can defend this president is beyond me!
There wouldn’t be the need for all the foodstamps if Republicans didn’t destroy our economy. There is such as thing as cause and effect.
And at what point are you going to hold Obama responsible for his own economy? 4 years? 8 years? I’d love to know. Only 7 months after Republicans took the House, the Democrat leadership was ripping on them for not making any changes, because they were “now in charge”. Yet three YEARS after Obama was inaugurated, he’s still not owning the economy, and liberals are still making excuses and blaming others. Does Obama get a pass for eternity? He signed up for this gig, but all he does is make excuses for his lack of success in fixing it. Sad.
How exactly do you expect Obama to “fix” the economy when Republicans block all efforts to do anything, just so they can claim that it’s Obama’s economy and he’s not doing anything. It’s pathetic. Republicans would allow another attack on the U.S. if they thought they could gain from it politically.
See, that’s where you’re wrong. Republicans aren’t blocking every effort to fix it. In fact, the House Republicans have passed 30 jobs bills….30, but where are they now? Sitting in the Senate, going nowhere. Reid has made it clear that he’s not even going to bring them to the floor, let alone allow a vote on them. Who’s the obstructionist? Your facts are crap, with all due respect.
Ben, for once can you provide any links whatsoever to substantiate your Claims?
I see you all over the web making these types of claims but never see you back them up.
Time to Own Up to your Statements Ben!
So Ben, what is your opinion of LBJ ?
I have to agree with Ben. Exactly what led us to these statistics that now have to be dealt with.
So it’s Bush’s fault, as usual. Again, as I asked Ben, at what point is this Obama’s economy? At what point does he take responsibility for our situation? It’s the Obama policies and over-regulation that have kept this economy from growing. We’re still at a 2 million job net loss since he became president. Gas prices are still double what they were when Bush left office. Housing market still hasn’t hit rock bottom. Food prices are up. When is this man held responsible for his destructive policies?
It’s the Obama policiess and over-regulation that have kept this economy from growing.
What specific policies are those? Cite the legislation that has kept the economy from growing. (I’m not holding my breath that I’ll get an answer to that. 🙂 )
So tell us Jennifer. What is the criteria you are using by which you agree with Ben? After all, he has yet to produce any facts and or links to substantiate his claims.
Perhaps Jennifer would like to produce some facts and or links to substantiate these claims?
I didn’t think so………. just more mindless dribble coming from the left is all.
I would pay them no mind Right Hook. You are dealing with Ignorant people who choose to be Willfully Ignorant in spite of the facts submitted.
Look out your back window Jennifer, there is a Yeti out there looking at you.
Do you believe that ?
No ?
Why, because you didn’t see it ?
Ben doesn’t provide any statistics to back up his claims.
Nor can he make a Yeti look into your back window.
Get the point ?
Do your own research.
Ignore Ben.
Ben,
You want me to cite legislation? I’ll name the top 3….1) Obamacare, 2) Obamacare, and 3) Obamacare. Chew on that for a while, and maybe I’ll give you some more tomorrow.
Obamacare, 2) Obamacare, and 3) Obamacare. Chew on that for a while, and maybe I’ll give you some more tomorrow.
So in other words, you got nothing. In fact, there is evidence that Obamacare is making it easier for small businesses to hire because they’re able to provide health coverage through co-ops. Face it, you’re just repeating mindless talking points and you could care less about our country.
Ben doesn’t have any facts to support his claims Righthook.
I see him doing this crap on a lot of Conservative sites.
He is a Troll and he is exactly what is wrong with America today.
People like him can never back up their statements but continue on with their ranting dribble.
I would suggest you either ignore him or ban his comments until he produces factual links to substantiate his claims.
Aw c’mon Sam.
Ben is fun,…kinda like a goldfish in a tank that you can tap on the glass and watch them react.
🙂
In fact, the House Republicans have passed 30 jobs bills….30
No they didn’t. They haven’t passed even one. Name one.
Maybe you should do a little research…

Good Link Righthook but Ben is not here to hear the truth. Ben is here cause he has nothing better to do with his life.
Maybe you should do a little research…
http://www.gop.gov/indepth/jobs/tracker
Ha! That’s a laugh. Maybe you should check their “facts” with a reputable source.
Ok, Ben….you’ve succeeded in boring me to tears. Go pester someone else…
As I have Clearly Demonstrated Ben has no Source for Facts and chooses to ignore requests for them. It would be wise to Ban this Fool in my opinion.
@ Righthook. It’s one thing to debate, another to debate with obstinate liberals, and then there’s Ben. When someone is going to argue that the GOP site is lying (simply because its the GOP) that the 30 bills that have been passed and stuck in the Senate is nothing but propaganda, refusing to avail himself of his own resources to confirm the painfully obvious, he is doing nothing but lowering the collective IQ of your fine site.
Those bills may indeed be stuck in the Senate, but what’s at issue is how effective they would be at creating jobs. Most of them are for tax cuts and deregulation, which are the exact policies that created our enormous debt and destroyed our economy. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
Were waiting for the proof to your claims Ben:
TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK…..snooze
The Democrats in the Senate Voted down most if not all of the Republican Bills that passed in the House.
The Democrats in the Senate have Failed to produce a Budget during the Obama Term and have only just now produced one which Obama is holding until he is ready to unveil it.
You got nothing Ben and you are just wasting our time.
You are wrong.
The House has indeed submitted 30 jobs bills to the Senate, and Harry Reid will not bring them to the floor for a vote.
Obviously you are deficient in the intelligence needed to effectively converse on this blog.
I get it,…Harry is your hero, correct ?
I’ll bet Obama is the greatest president since FDR,…correct ?
You’re out of your league Ben.
Save face now and don’t make a bigger fool of yourself.
What exactly has Obama done to create jobs and fix the economy. offshore drilling ban, block Keystone XL Pipe Line, Solyndra millions down the drain and so and so on and so on.
Bob A.
🙂
That was fun RH !!!
Do any of you people even have jobs? No, I didn’t think so.
Do you ?
And just what is it ?
We all have or had jobs Ben.
I served my Country, did you ?
Please feel free to respond.
We will be waiting with bated breath !
It’s called flexible schedules and multi-tasking, Ben. Ever heard of it?
I am retired Ben and I also served my Country in the military. How about you? Since you have not provided the facts and proofs I asked you for I am going to guess you to be a Coward. Your pattern of making snide remarks and unwillingness to back them up brought me to that conclusion.
Furthermore it would be my guess that you were one of those Conscientious Objectors who fled our Country for Canada and stayed there until Nixon offered you Amnesty.
Of course your not going to reply to this. You can’t!
What Samiam60 said above.
C’mon Ben, do you have the stuff to take us on ?
I really doubt it.
What Obama can’t figure out is that alot of people in America still believe in being self-sufficient (That goodness), even if that means eating beans intead of beef and going without the extras. I would like us to wean everyone off of food stamps and start giving more tax breaks to LOCAL community groups, food kitchens, etc. that help feed the poor. There’s a wonderful “grocery store” where I used to live in FL that received food donations and sold the goods at ridiculously low prices (name brand stuff). You had to be below a certain income to shop there. But they served a real need: People were able to buy food with their own money, instead of taking a direct handout. It helped people perserve their pride by not getting something totally for free.
BEN-if you’re still lurking, would you trust a GOVERNMENT web site?
Check out http://www.house.gov and track the bills. There are currently 1,000 bills (not all jobs, of course) that have passed the House since Jan 1, 2011 and been passed to the Senate that the Senate has not taken through the paces and voted on. It’s the Do-Nothing Harry Reid.
You’re exactly right. When I lived in Michigan, they had a similar type of program.
It will be very difficult to get people off of those food stamps though. Many families get as much as $500-$600/mo, some even more than that. But it needs to be done. Unfortunately, right now, there is no incentive to get people off of them. They have no requirements and no accountability. With TANF assistance, most states at least require recipients to look for work, but with SNAP, there are no requirements in order to receive benefits.
BTW, Ben, some of us are just darned lucky to have jobs that allows us the flexibility to blog, as well. I can’t speak for everyone, but I sure do pay my share of income tax–do you?
Nicely said Freedom. 🙂
You go girl !
So you are all freeloaders who are either living on welfare (Social Security) or somebody is paying you to do a job and you’re playing on the internet.
And I’d bet I pay more in taxes than some of you make at your “jobs.”
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…….
I seriously doubt that Ben. My guess is your still living in your mothers basement devoid of any real friends let alone a job. Your a loser in the fullest meaning of the word Ben and it is so apparent to all of us.
Did you enjoy your stay in Canada Ben? I am sure that’s where you spent the war years of Vietnam. Your a Coward Ben and still have not provided one single fact and or link to support your claims.
If I were Right Hook I would have banned you long ago from this site and if you were ever to appear on any of my sites I can tell you I would be ripping you a new one. Being this isn’t my site I have to be nice to your sorry ass!
LMAO. This is fun. I’m only keeping Ben here for entertainment value. I’ll tire of him soon enough.
How old are you ‘Ben’ ?
You appear to me to be extremely inexperienced in life.
You have no wisdom that I can see, at least none that you have allowed yourself to benefit from.
If you had, you would not label us as ‘freeloaders’.
Ben. I’ll take you up on your bet. Now since you offered the bet you anti up first by providing your tax return in your next response.
Ben, I would not make broad assumptions especially when you are conversing with strangers. It’s dangerous territory.
I run my own business, not that it’s any business of yours. And I just filed my quarterly taxes yesterday.
I find it curious that you would try to slam anyone who may be collecting social security or other government benefits when you, yourself, are a proponent of said entitement programs and are quite happy to see them grow with another 4 years of Obama.
Besides, where are your manners? Didn’t your Mom teach you that it is impolite to discuss how much money you make and spend?
Reblogged this on PUMABydesign001's Blog and commented:
I find it astounding that the mere mention of food stamps has Progressives jumping up and down like the jackrabbits that they are accusing the right of being racists, when in fact, it is the left who jumped to the conclusion that the right was referring to Blacks and Latinos. Go figure.
And how is it now that the Left is embarking on a program offering $75,000 to groups who can come up with ways to sign up new food stamp recipients.
All of the above under the Obama administration and by those who consider it an insult to refer to Food Stamp King, Barack Obama, as the Food Stamp King. What a farce.
Excellent post RH. I commented and reblogged. Still not sure how that works.
Thanks! I appreciate the repost. These libs contradict themselves at every turn, don’t they?
Kudos to you RH.
You snared a troll !
If it gives up, I want you to know that it was fun ! 🙂
LOVE IT !
Indeed RH, they’re all a bunch of brainless twits.
Reblogged this on American Freedom.
DEBATING BEN HOFFMAN 101:
You right-wingers live in an alternate reality.
When was the last time we had a balanced budget? The late ’90s under Bill Clinton.
When did we have enormous increases in deficits? Under Reagan and Bush.
What is the reason for our current huge deficits? The Bush tax cuts, the two wars, Medicare Part D, reduced revenues due to high unemployment, and increased payouts for unemployment benefits. Those are all the result of failed Republican policies. You can also throw in there the Obama tax cuts, which were enacted to appease Republicans but have done little to stimulate the economy.
Darlin’, do you know why there was a balanced budget in the Clinton years? Because of Speaker Gingrich…so put that in your pipe, and smoke it.
Because of Speaker Gingrich…so put that in your pipe, and smoke it.
I’ll put that little turd in my toilet and flush it. 🙂
And….we’re done here. You act like a 12 yr old. When you can have a real debate like a big boy, let me know.
@ ben, obama is practically allowing an attack on us soil b/c he is getting taking away funds from the military and cutting back defense!!
This past year since “The Shellackin” I been asking alot of folks of different color about Obama at grocery stres, lumber yards, pumping gas, ect ect and not getting alot of approval, many blacks I ask feel betrayed and most likely won’t even vote in 2012. I could be wrong but there’s not alot of support in South Florida. Can’t even remember the last time I seen any Obama stickers and I travel near 200 miles a day up and down I-95 to work.
Hey Jerry. I hope you’re right. Unfortunately, the black community will support him, regardless of how disappointed they are in him, and I’m sure the community leaders will do everything they can to get them to the voting booth. We have a congressman in my state who uses church buses to take people to vote. Let a Republican do that….the churches would lose their tax exempt status in a heartbeat.
