As I’ve browsed the internet these past two days, I’m struck by the number of people who are so discouraged by Obama’s re-election, that they are ready to just give up.  Some have vowed to turn off the news and become an uninformed voter, because it would just be easier.  Some talked about quitting their jobs and going on food stamps and welfare.  It’s sad to think that any American sees that as a better option.

While I’m sure many of those discouraged voters are just venting and have no real intention of giving up, it’s clear that many feel their efforts just didn’t matter this time around.  But we cannot give up.  That’s what they want us to do.  We cannot lose focus on the real problem.  It’s about more than just Barack Obama.  It’s about our liberty.  It’s about the Constitution.  It’s about the country we’re leaving for our children and grandchildren.  We’re the world’s last best hope.  We’re that shining city on the hill.  This is America, the greatest country in the world.  Too many men have fought and died to keep this country free, and we can NOT let them die in vain.

Why did we lose?  Did the Democrats have better ideas?  Did they have a better message?  Do they have stronger values?  No.  They campaigned on fear, not ideas.  Their message was full of lies and misinformation.  They made false claims about Mitt Romney’s character.  They painted him to be a liar, tax cheat, and an uncaring, disconnected rich man who was only out to help the wealthiest Americans.  They scared women into believing that Republicans want to take away health care and contraceptives.  They scared seniors into thinking Republicans were going to take away their social security and Medicare benefits.  They scared young people into thinking Republicans would take away their opportunities for a good education.  They used the same sorry scare tactics they use EVERY election.  We know those things couldn’t be further from the truth, but the uninformed voters believe it.  The news has been so filtered, that unless you’re getting your news from Fox, conservative talk radio, or conservative blogs, you’re just not getting the truth.  The main stream media no longer breaks the news…..it shapes the news.  They decide what to report, based on which stories will either help the Democrat or hurt the Republican.  Period.  And Obama just had a better ground game.  Despite the decline in enthusiasm for Obama, his campaign got people to the polls.

So what now?  We press on.  We look toward 2014, and we find a way to articulate our message in a clearer way.  We don’t change our core principles….we will never win by changing who we are.  We find a way to make people understand who we are, and why our ideas are the right ideas.  We find a way to make them understand how this country can become more prosperous through lower taxes and less government, and that smaller government is a more effective government.

Democrats pander by dividing the country into voting blocs.  We are all Americans.  We should not be put into boxes according to color, gender or class.  That’s not the American way of doing things.  We shouldn’t appeal to women and minorities by promising them things we can’t deliver or by changing our principles.  We should appeal to them by setting the example.  The Republican party has not been able to shake the stereotype of being the party of rich white men.  It couldn’t be further from the truth, yet it’s how we are perceived.  We have a very diverse group of strong conservative leaders from all backgrounds.  We have Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Marsha Blackburn, Nikki Haley, Mia Love, Allen West, Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal, just to name a few.  But Democrats have effectively kept us in a box, and we often just assume that we cannot get the black or Hispanic votes.  We can.  We just aren’t trying hard enough.

2014 is our next goal.  We have 20 Democrat senators to unseat, and 13 Republican seats to defend.   We need to retain the House.  We have gubernatorial seats to replace and defend.  This is no time for discouragement and defeat….we still have work to do.

Touching….just wanted to share.

Here a personal Thanksgiving Reflection by Sarah Palin which she dedicates to Trig. It is beautiful and awesome.
From LifeNews.com: On Thanksgiving, my family’s traditions will reflect the loyal, active, robust, big family life that shaped me. We’re so fortunate to be together to share the making of another year’s memory. In these late autumn days with temperatures dipping to 20-degrees below zero, we’ll brave Alaska’s biting cold to run and skate and ride – just because we can, and for that I am so thankful. Life in America’s Last Frontier is not an easy living, but it’s a good living. Here in Alaska, where I’m never without inspiration, an optimistic pioneering spirit still permeates, and harsh conditions force us out of self-centeredness and towards community – often in order to survive.

This need for selflessness – and the blessings that come with it – sharpened for me almost four years ago when I was given the gift of broader horizons, clarified priorities, and more commitment to justice and compassion for my fellow man who faces challenges and fears. I was granted this through a gift that arrived in a tiny, six-pound, awe-inspiring bundle. We named him Trig.

Conservatives in this country are attacked at every turn.  Politicians, including Michele Bachman, Jim Demint, and Mike Pence, and even talk show hosts, such as Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, are verbally assaulted on a daily basis, by liberals and the mainstream media.  But nobody can attract the cat claws and hate speech like Sarah Palin.

For the last three years, Sarah Palin has been accused of everything from conflicts of interest to abuse of power and misuse of funds.  Although she has not run for any office since her VP nomination in 2008, liberal Democrats, and even some Republicans have continued to rip her up one side and down the other.  Liberals criticized her in her role as Governor of Alaska, but then pummeled her when she resigned, calling her a quitter.  They slapped 19 ethics charges on her, although she was cleared on all counts, most of which were dismissed as baseless.    In addition, left-wing groups trashed her daughters, something that is considered off-limits with most politicians.  They even accused her of lying about being Trig’s mother.  I find it interesting that liberals go after so-called “birthers” for questioning Obama’s place of birth, calling them radical or extreme.  However, those same liberals sit idly by while Palin haters claim that Sarah’s son is actually Bristol’s, without a shred of evidence.  I don’t hear any of those people being called radical or extreme.

Why do people hate her so much?  Is it because she’s a successful woman?  Why don’t feminists like her?  Feminism is supposed to be all about equality for women, and Sarah Palin has successfully juggled family and career.  One would think she would be a model of the feminist movement; however, feminist groups are among her biggest critics, which is primarily due to her pro-life stance.

Is it because she’s a Republican?  Other prominent Republican women like Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe may receive some criticism, but nothing in comparison to Sarah Palin.  Why is that?

It’s all of the above.  Sarah is a proud, unwavering, true conservative.  She, along with Michele Bachmann, has been a strong voice in the tea party movement, and has been unafraid to stand up for the principles she believes in.  She believes in the Constitution and in both social and fiscal conservatism.  She’s not afraid to go against the “establishment”.  She doesn’t back down from criticism, and in fact, seems to welcome it.  Liberals and the mainstream media have not been able to control her or shut her down.  That’s why people hate her so much.  She’s a legitimate threat to the liberal agenda.

I was reading various blogs over the weekend, and I came across one about Sarah Palin’s speech in Wisconsin, in which protestors were screaming out countless racial and hateful comments, and even heckled a 14-year-old girl who was speaking, drowning her out with screams, boos and cowbells.  Now that’s civility for you!  I started reading the comments, and I could not believe how hateful people were towards Sarah, making fun of her hair, her outfit, and her looks, and calling her despicable names.  Here are just a few comments….

  • Palin is a shrinking, unpatriotic insane woman.
  • Palin is Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, and Ted Haggard all rolled into one…biggest phony ever.
  • She and Breitbart are made for each other. Both are liars with no moral compasses.
  • Calling her a w**** is insulting to w****s.
  • Cheap looking coat for a “cheap” woman. Proof positive that money cannot buy “class or style”.
  • Sadly, some other trash came to my fine state…Sarah Palin. I thought I smelled the stench.
  • Taking up for Sarah is just like inviting copperhead snakes into your bed.

This was just in the first 15-20 posts!  But with all of these mean-spirited comments, I could not find ONE that actually addressed her stance on any issue.  Then I tried to defend Sarah, and it got ugly.  I have never had so many responses to a post in my life.  I was told how dangerous Sarah is, and called very naïve.  I was called an idiot, a dip***, and a few other choice words.  I was told to save my lecture on civility, because Sarah is the one full of venom and hate.  And of course, they continue to trounce Sarah.

I stood my ground, and commented that in all of their posts, there was not one political position listed.  Finally, one brave soul made a lame attempt at bringing up a few.  I’ll give her credit.  She tried.  She followed that with a few more pot shots at me, assuming that because I’m pro-life, I must be neither a woman nor a mother; and she used the old standby….the race card.  That is just so tired.  Clearly, libs can’t see past that issue.

I found their feeble attempts at trashing me humorous, so I replied a few more times, and they resorted to the same sorry attacks.  Obviously, this group was much more interested in beating up on Sarah than they were in getting to the truth.

The way I see it, is that if the left is fighting you that hard, you must be doing something right.  So keep it up, Sarah!
